Victoria Coren is not only beautiful, a talented writer, journalist and one of the top female poker players in the UK, she is also one of the more popular players in the game and has accumulated winnings well in excess of a million pounds.

Born in 1973 she received an excellent education attending some top class independent schools before going to Oxford University where she read English. She learned to play poker from her older brother Giles Coren, also an Oxford graduate who went on to forge himself a successful career as a writer and television presenter.

Victoria’s TV career really began on the Late Night Poker Show where her looks, poker ability, wry sense of humour and exceptional talent for the game immediately won her a large following. She has also appeared on the Chanel 4 programme The Poker Nations Cup, on the ITV2 hosted World Poker Tour, and on the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour where she was a commentator.

In 2006 she won a European Poker Tour (EPT) event, becoming the first woman in history to do so and collecting close to a million dollars. She has also finished in the money in two World Series of Poker events and five other EPT events.

Her writing includes “For Richer, For Poorer: A Love Affair with Poker” which is a memoir of her life as a poker player and received critical acclaim, though her bibliography also includes “Once More, with Feeling: How We Tried to Make the Greatest Porn Film Ever”, co-authored with the actor and journalist Charlie Skelton.

Victoria writes a regular poker column for the Guardian newspaper in which she provides a deep insight into the game and the world of poker as well as providing many amusing poker anecdotes.

She is a frequent player at cash games and live tournaments and regularly plays online.
